Hi i am having issues with HRESET_REQ_B signal. The issue is it is always toggling and due to which my system is in reset. Can anybody tell in what cases HRESET_REQ_B signal will be toggled and please share if you have any document which can help in debugging.

Hi,

May I ask what chip you are referring to? When you said "due to which my system is in reset", do you mean system asserts HRESET_B? Is there option to keep HRESET_REQ_B and HRESET_B disconnected?

There is possibility if black flash cause boot error which in turn causes assertion of HRESET_REQ_B and if it's connected with HRESET_B then device goes in recurring reset loop.

Hi

Thanks for your reply.

We are using P1021 device.

yes, i mean system is in reset means, HRESET_B is also toggling.

In current design, we don't have option to isolate or disconnect HRESET_REQ_B and HRESET_B from processor.

Could you please eloborate "black flash cause boot error" ?

Currently we are using NOR flash to load the image but in this board NOR flash is empty. Will this create boot error?

Please let us know if you need any more inputs to help us in resolving this issue.

Once again thanks a lot for your help.

Hi,

Booting from Black NAND may cause error which in turn causes assertion of HRESET_REQ_B.

1. You're using customer board right? Can you share the schematic?

2. Did you succeed booting with correctly programmed NOR flash?

3. Did you try booting from alternate source? was it successfully booted?

4. Is I2C boot sequencer ON?

5. Is this an isolated case or entire bulk faces this problem?

Hi

Thanks for your reply and please find my response as mentioned below:

1. You're using customer board right? Can you share the schematic?

Ram" Yes we are using customer board. I may not share the complete

design, but if you need i can provide the information what you need.

sorry for this.

2. Did you succeed booting with correctly programmed NOR flash?

Ram: yes, our client has programmed flash in board which booted

successfully but as we don't have programmed parts, we have a blank NOR

flash on the board.

3. Did you try booting from alternate source? was it successfully booted?

Ram: I have tried to load code from Green Hills debugger, but as

processor HRESET is toggling continuously i was not succeeded.

4. Is I2C boot sequencer ON?

Ram: I2C boot sequencer is off.

5. Is this an isolated case or entire bulk faces this problem?

Ram: we have made two bulk of boards separately one at Client place and

another at our place. entire boards at our place is having this problem.

Hi,

As you're not comfortable to share schematic, please compare it to Freescale demo board P1020RDB schematic, see if there is any different.

Hi,

Thanks for the information.

1. You're using customer board right? Can you share the schematic?

Ram" Yes we are using customer board. I may not share the complete

design, but if you need i can provide the information what you need.

sorry for this.

Lunmin: It's ok, please provide the part related to reset logic.

5. Is this an isolated case or entire bulk faces this problem?

Ram: we have made two bulk of boards separately one at Client place and

another at our place. entire boards at our place is having this problem.

Lunmin: May I ask what's the difference of board between your place and client place?
