hello,

Am using SJA1105EL Ethernet switch is this switch compatible with IPV4 (IP address)

if yes??

how it can be?

do we need to change the Ethernet frame format??

not sure if I understand your question correct, but if you are asking if the switch can forward Ethernet frames based on IPv4 address, then answer is no, because Ethernet frame does not contain IPv4 address. Ethernet frame contains MAC address and every L2 switch forwards frames (switches frames) based on MAC address (if we talk about Ethernet protocol). Different protocols uses different ways (for example PPTP - Point-to-point protocol).

IPv4 address is part of IP packet (IP packet header), which is encapsulated into the Ethernet frame (as a data), and L2 switch does not interested in the packet.
