Hello,

Can the PTN5150 run on a 3.3V I2C bus?

From the datasheet, the recommended operating voltage on the I2C pins is 1.98V max. Is this correct? Seems odd since the part can only be supplied between 2.7V-5.5V.

Hello ersprengle,

I hope all is great with you. Thank you for using the NXP communities.

Those are the recommended operating conditions. In this case, I do recommend reviewing the Table 14 from datasheet for further information:

Therefore, the device can run on 3.3V supply.

I hope this information helps.
Regards,
David

Hi David,

Thank you for your reply.

If it is recommended to only run the I2C pins up to 1.98V, what are the risks and/or effects of using it at 3.3V?

If the I2C can be used at 3.3V, why is that not in the recommended operating conditions in Table 10?

There seems to be conflicting information between Table 9, Table 10, and Table 14.

Hello ersprengle,

Thank you for using the NXP community.

I agree, the information from the tables is confusing. In this case, I have already share your feedback to the corresponding team.

In any case, the device can run on a 3.3V supply without any issues.

Regards,

David
