Are there any issues with KDS V3.0 or KSDK V1.2.0 after upgrading to Windows 10?

I've been thinking of upgrading from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 but want to avoid any problems with my Kinetis development environment.

I'm developing on a FRDM-K64F board using KDS v3.0 and KSDK v1.2.0 and debugging with a PE Micro Multilink Universal FX.

Are there any known issues with any of these tools moving to Windows 10?

Thanks,

Peter

Hi Peter,

KDS was tested and recommended for the Host operating systems:

  • Windows® 7/8 (32 and 64-bit)
  • Linux® 64-bit (Ubuntu 10.04 (deb), RedHat/Centos 7 (rpm))
  • Mac OS 10.10 ("Yosemite")

This Summer I performed some tests under Windows 10 64 bit.

I’ve installed an instance of Windows 10 64 bit OS on my Oracle VirtualBox.

Under this configuration I’ve installed several product:

                CW for HC12 v5.1

                CW for MCU V10.6.4

                KDS V3.0.0

About tool installation/running:

The tools were installed without problem.

I can create and build a sample application without problem.

About interfaces:

                This is more complex.

The OSBDM connection is working fine for MCU V10.6.4 and KDS 3.0.0

However the P&E interfaces Multilink are not recognized on my Windows 10.

May be linked to Oracle Virtualbox ....

I’ve contacted P&E  and P&E performed some tests on their side on native Win 10 installation.

The P&E interfaces are working fine.

For my experience (sample tests only) KDS was working fine under Win 10.

Now it was not with a real application.

Have a great day,
Pascal

Hi Pascal!

I've a particular problem with KDS and Windows 10, because until this moment I didn't find a simlar problem.

When, I use KDS (after your installation) your behaviour is normal, in other words, I can create a new project quickly.

But, when I closed and open the KDS I can't create a new project because the KDS stay very slow. This same behaviour it's found in two notebooks where I have a Windows 10 64 Bits.

Do you have any tips?

Regards,

Arnaldo

Hi Arnaldo,

I don't experienced similar issue on my side but I've installed KDS only without KSDK.

Don't know if this could have an impact or not.

It seems the problem is already investigate through the KDS is slow (Windows 10)

I recommend you to continue to use this thread for this issue.

Regards

Pascal
