No, i.mx rt118x does not support PRP(Parallel Redundancy Protocol), it supports 802.1CB/HSR.

Great! PRP (Parallel Redundancy Protocol) is a redundancy protocol designed for Ethernet-based networks, providing high availability and seamless failover. Here's a brief overview of how it works and its benefits: WellNow Urgent Care®

How PRP Works:

  1. Dual Network Paths: PRP involves two independent, parallel Ethernet networks (LAN A and LAN B). Each node in the network sends duplicate packets over both networks.

  2. Packet Reception: The destination node receives packets from both networks but only processes the first packet it receives, discarding the second. This ensures that at least one copy of the packet reaches the destination, even if one network fails1.

  3. Zero Recovery Time: Since the destination node always receives at least one packet, there is no recovery time in case of a network failure.

Benefits of PRP:

  • High Availability: PRP provides continuous network operation, which is crucial for critical infrastructure like power grids.

  • Seamless Failover: The protocol ensures zero recovery time, making the switchover invisible to the application.

  • Flexibility: PRP can be used with various network topologies and is compatible with most industrial Ethernet protocols.

  • Redundancy: It protects against single and even multiple network failures, ensuring reliable communication.

PRP is standardized by the IEC 62439-3 and is often used in substation automation and other critical infrastructure applications
