Hi Rays
probably these images are not optimized for i.MX53 platform,
please check below i.MX53 Ubuntu
http://eewiki.net/display/linuxonarm/i.MX53+Quick+Start#i.MX53QuickStart-Ubuntu14.04
Best regards

Hi chip
how can i get an optimized one or maybe a way to optimize it
maybe by passing the language selection screen, it might load
the keyboard n mouse when it completely boots.
the name of the file is ubuntu-12.04-preinstalled-desktop-armhf+mx5.img.gz
with the mx5 in it i thought it will be ok ,,
Also i tried the instruction for ubuntu 14.04 above, that didnt even come on.
did you get it to run sometime... am not sure why ... the kernel seem high
though ..
Also i tried the freescale MX53_QSB_UBUNTU_SD_DEMO_IMAGE on win7
and it cant find any disk, not even my HDD..
is there a way i can get ubuntu on an sd card that will boot (preferably 12.04)
thanks
RAYS

Hi Rays
optimized means that iomux settings were correctly set.
Regadring HDD I did not understood well,
i.MX53 Demo Image has document inside, which describes
what it supports and what not. Probably HDD is not supported.
In such case you should implement such support himself.

Hi chip:
i mean my system hard disk drive HDD. The list to select destination drive is empty.
its just something.exe file that is suppose to create the boot sd card and nothing can
be done to modify it. its a select and click next kindda application.
am guessing there is no straight forward way to get ubuntu 12.04 to run on imx53
on a side not, what do you make of this error:
GModule-CRITICAL **: g_module_close: 'module->ref_count > 0' failed
Clutter-CRITICAL **: Unable to initialize Clutter: Failed to connected to any renderer due to constraints
Segmentation fault
i get it when i try to run a program requiring libclutter-1.0 on the imx53
any insight is welcomed
thanks

Hi Rays
this is not desktop computer, but rather small chip,
so you can not expect that it will support everything
you can wish to attach.
I think first you should carefully read documentation
MCIMX53-START-R i.MX53 QS Board Schematics
then you may wish to run
L2.6.35_MX53_1109_PATCH_IMAGE :
and add step by step additional packages using
sources
Best regards
