when I boot into initramfs and then import my caam key I don't see the logon:logkey in the keyring

sh-5.1# keyctl list @s
1 key in keyring:
1028402199: --alswrv 0 65534 keyring: _uid.0

but when I boot into the regular filesystem I see it

hostname:~$ keyctl list @s
2 keys in keyring:
239354824: ----s-rv 0 0 user: invocation_id
676824911: --alsw-v 0 0 logon: logkey:

The only thing I can figure is there is something in the kernel  have as a module that isn't loaded with the initramfs image. What would cause this?

I have had success using @u instead of @s but I don't understand why.
