Currently we are evaluating for a product release (media player) imx8M plus and coming from imx6 we were used to ave many backends to choose from extra flexibility on what to choose and we are wonder now what imx8 family brings to the table. Unfortunately even though we wanted to be able to at least be able to play 4k@30 videos with imx8 m plus it seems that this is not the case. We are using the latest ER release from NXP and it seems that only one backend is supported nowadays (wayland) and 4k media playing is laggy to say the least. Is imx8m plus capable of decoding 4k@30 h264 video and how ?
