Hi There,
After running "modprobe ath6kl" the system freezes up for about 30 seconds. Turns out its stuck waiting for the kernel to download the firmware do the device (firmware_class.c function - _request_firmware). Any idea why this could be ? I'm using the L3.0.35_4.1.0 Linux SDK from Freescale
Thanks and have a great weekend,
/Otto
Hi,
It seems to be an error with the firmware. fsl latest Android Release has the latest version of the driver provided by Atheros. I think that the best way to solve it could be:
You could take the drivers from Android BSP and then compiled in the linux BSP.
1.-Get the last revision of the i.MX53SMD tablet
2.- Contact atheros to provide support about this.
Also please check section 8 of the folliwing appnote that might be helpful:
Hi There,
Which driver are you suggesting we should use from the i.MX53SMD tablet ? As far as I know there are two
Proprietary from Atheros - ar6000.ko
Open Source from Linux Kernel - ath6kl.ko
We have compiled the former (AR6kSDK.build_3.1_RC.563) and it works as a wifi client, but not in Access Point mode with hostapd. That's why we started looking at the open source driver (ath6kl.ko). Also, you recommend getting the driver from the i.MX53SMD Android BSP, even though the i.mx6 Android BSP is newer ?
Thanks for your help,
/Otto
Thanks for your feedback. I'll try it out and report my findings here
