Hi,
We have a system built around the iMX51 running Linux.
I was using the memtool utility to poke around some status registers when something crazy happened.
By mistake I added an extra character to the address when using memtool and memtool tried to read a memory address outside of the available address space, which then the system froze and rebooted.
After reboot I have no Ethernet. I tried checking the status of the FEC control register using memtool, but my system just freezes evereytime I access the entire FEC address space.
Also, during the boot sequence FEC is not loaded anymore. This leads me to believe it is fried.
So...is Ethernet totally shot on the iMX or is there anything else I can try?
Hmm nobody? OK maybe people are unfamiliar with memtool. It's just a tool that let's you poke around memory addresses. I'm not sure why It broke Ethernet of all things, but that is not my concern at this time.
Anyway, my main question is about the Ethernet controller not working. Is it safe to assume that if it is not loading that it is fried?
Edit: I changed the title of the thread to something more straightforward.
