Digital Mic(PDM) support in i.MX5/6

There seems to be a paucity of app notes on how to support Digital(PDM) microphones in the i.MX5 and i.MX6.

Has anyone used PDM mics on the i.MX5 or i.MX6 ?

The Extended audio block seems to suggest PDM can be accomplished but before I sweat out teh details, though a quick check

on the forum would help.

Hi gsmd,

As Brad mentioned, none of our imx family audio interfaces (SSI, ESAI, SAI) are equpped with PDM receiving capability.

Our recommendations are following.

1. Use Codec such as WM8962 to interface PDM digital microphone then have the I2S output of the codec connected to one of i.MX's audio interfaces.

2. Use digital microphones with I2S output and connect to one of our I2S capable ports.

Download the Sabre SD schematics.  They have two Analog Devices ADMP5421B digital microphones connected to a Wolfson WM8962 Codec.
