hello,Community

The READ or WRITE sequence on the memory side during BOOT differs depending on whether the flash memory side is set to standard SPI or QSPI.
If the Boot QuadSPI configuration parameters are stored in the flash memory, how can the configuration be read from the flash memory even though the flash memory setting is standard SPI or QSPI is not known? .

best regards

hello,

Can the first “ROM reads configuration parameters using the default read command” be able to read external flash memory settings using standard SPI or QSPI?

best regards

Yes, the QSPI can be read after reset using the default read command.

Hello,

According to section 6.6.6.2 (QuadSPI serial flash BOOT operation) of i.MX 7Dual

Reference Manual, Rev. 1, 01/2018, the QuadSPI interface initialization is a two-step process.

At first, the ROM reads configuration parameters using the default read command configured in

the LUT of the QuadSPI interface with the SCLOCK operating at 20 MHz.

Note, BOOT_CFG[15:12] define if Boot from QuadSPI is selected.

Have a great day,

Yuri.
