DC/DC mode generates extra load

On QN9090 when I enable POWER_SetDcdc1v3() I get an extra transmission(?)/peak load in an unconnectable BLE broadcast:

compared to the same broadcast without POWER_SetDcdc1v3()

On QN9080 with DC/DC enabled doesn't have the extra peak

So how to remove the extra peak on QN9090?

Hello,

Hope you are doing well. What SDK version are you using? Could you please tell us what SDK example are you using as a base when measuring this?

How are you measuring this?

Something important to remark, is that QN9080 and QN9090 are different families, and there are differences in the architecture and power consumptions.

Best Regards,

Ricardo

Hello,

SDK 2.6.13

with beacon bm example, in non connectable broadcasting mode.

I know it's different still, BLE broadcasting happens on 3chs

but looks like there is a 4th transmission in DC/DC mode which is weird.

Hello,

How are you measuring this? What modifications did you make to the SDK example?

I would recommend checking this Application Note: QN9090/QN9030 Power Consumption Analysis.

Ricardo

No changes made, I'm measuring only the small OM15069 board itself powered by 3v3.

There is nothing wrong with my measurement, QN9090 does this weird thing.

The built in power measuring into JN5189 doesn't allow this precision.

Do you see different result from mine?
