Hello,

We are using the MMA8451 only to detect a FreeFall, with I2C communication for the configuration, then the INT2 pin to interrupt the µC.

Now then MMA8451 is not recommended for new design.

I'm looking for replace it and the NXP website propose the FXLS8974.

It seems very similar, but I can't find the equivalent for the FreeFall.

Currentlty, I apply exactly what is said into AN4070 which is very simple.

On the chapter 6.2 it is explain exactly what configuration to do (only  7 steps) and that all!.

Are they the equivalent function on the FCLS8974? Are they this type of application note?

Hi Arnaud,

The AppNote can be found in the "Documentation" tab of the FXLS8974CF web page.

Hi Arnaud,
You can take a look at AN12004, available on NXP external website.
AN12004, Sensors Data Change Detection (SDCD) block overview with examples for FXLS896xAF, applicati...

It will give you some guidelines for standard event detection including freefall.

Hi,

i would like to do the same thing as you.

I have followed the AN 12004, page 15 and 16.

I cannot understand the relationship between height and the value of the debounce register (32h).

Can you help me?

regards,

Alessandro
