Hello Everyone,

I have the following issues in understanding the notations:
1. Could anyone let me know the meaning and usage of DNP in the attached file?
2. Please help me out in understanding what this '0' means ? does it mean the value of the resistor? or is it something else?

Thank you for your time. DNP.pngR_notation.png

Hi @ankan_creatara

1. DNP stands for "Do Not Place" refers to the components designed into a circuit that aren’t placed right away.

2. Most PCB manufacturing is done with machines. Using 0 ohm resistors allows the machine to connect or disconnect different tracks without having to use actual wires or jumpers.

Hello @VaneB,

Could you kindly let me know what is the purpose of the DNP components in the circuit? Actually, I could not figure it out the reason behind these DNP components. Could you please elaborate what did you mean by "that aren’t placed right away".

However, thank you for your insights. It is really helpful.

P.S.: The 0 ohm resistor concept totally made sense now. Thanks!!

Incorporating DNP components into a design allows you to place variants of a component or different configurations of components. Both cases apply when components have variants with additional features on reserved pins.

"that aren’t placed right away" -> "are not installed"
