The IEEE 1588 block has several input and output pins - PULSE_OUT, ALARM_OUT, TRIG_IN. These pins are routed out to IEEE 1588 test header to have a possibility to illustrate IEEE 1588 functionality. For example you can connect two boards together via Ethernet with IEEE 1588 synchronization enabled, and than connect dual-beam scope to pulse outputs of each IEEE 1588 test headers and see, how they run synchronously, when Ethernet cable is connected, and loose synchronization when disconnected.

Have a great day,
Alexander
