Hello,

We are currently testing with the NXP FRWY-LS1046A-AC Freeway Eval Board and trying to get a impression on the power consumption of the SoC.

We have found the demo application with the "CPU Performance Benchmarking" tool which displays a power output. With this demo app we are hoping that we could measure the power and infer on the power consumption of our planned board.

Here we have some questions:

1.)

Which peripherals of the board are included in this demo power measurement?

We are currently thinking that the reading on the web tool includes everything incl. the PCIe WIFI card and so on.

2.)

From the demo application it is possible to disable cores of the LS1046A  SoC. Regarding the datasheet it makes a big difference in which power saving mode a core is switched. We measured that each disable core reduces the power consumption by about 1W at full CPU load and about 65°C. Compared to the datasheet this not seem to fit. Which power saving mode is activated in the demo application? PW15, PH20, LPM20 or even non?

3.)

Are there any hidden configurations to get a more detailed access to the power measurements? I do have noticed that the ICs PF8100 and INA220A may be used to collect the power readings so it should be possible to differentiate between the power buses? Would be cool if there would be some hidden options. I guess the demo app is running on a linux? maybe it is possible to get access to a linux console and read the I2C values somehow directly?

Thank you very much.

1) Only VDD consumption is displayed.

2) The question is not clear - what are observed results?

3) There are no hidden configurations in the Demo application.

Thank you for your answer.

Question 2 relates to the power consumption of each particular core and the power savings when disabling one.

We have measured that each core pulls about 1W additionally when enabled.

So the question is: In which powersaving mode are the cores when they are disabled by the SW.

The expected power savings are very different regarding the datasheet and the different power saving configurations.

It should be PW15 + PH20
