SC16IS740 I/O Control register

The data sheet says that the I/O Control register, IOControl, is only on the 750 and 760 parts but I have found that I am able to do a software reset by writing to bit 3, UART software reset, on the 740. Is this an undocumented feature?

Hello David,

Indeed, the SC16IS740 is functionally and electrically identical to the SC16IS750, with the exception of the programmable I/O pins which are only present on the SC16IS750.

So, the IOControl register is available only on SC16IS750/SC16IS760 devices and the correct functionality on the SC16IS740 device is not guaranteed.

Any way I will continue investigating about this behavior and I will let you know if I arrive at some conclusion.
