PN7161 never leaves standby

Hi,

We developed a borad for the PN7160/PN7161 as per AN12988 PN7160 Hardware design guide.

Right now we have implemented the software for PN7150 and it is working fine, but the new board does not respond to the I2C bus. The controler seems to power up fine, since the internal regulators turn on and show 1V8 and 2V5, that correspond to the standby status.

Is there any diference that makes the PN7161 not respond to I2C as the PN7150? Does it have any aditional requirements to leave standby that are not in the datasheet for the PN7160/PN7161?

I also designed PN7160 and PN7161 boards, with I2C port. I tested them with this library: GitHub - NXPNFCLinux/linux_libnfc-nci: Linux NFC stack for NCI based NXP NFC Controllers

I got the following result:

1. All PN7160 boards are working well

2. All PN7161 boards are not working, failing at initiate.

They share the same hardware design.  I have no authorization from Apple. Does it mean without authorization I could not use PN7161 at all?

Hi Kuber:

The i2c design should be the same.

I would suggest you design your board according to our reference design. HW6635.

It can be downloaded from below link
