P&E Multilink vs OSJTAG

I  am using Codewarrior 10.1 and Kinetis TWR-K60 kit with built in OSJTAG with JM60 HCS 08 MCU.

First of all flashing and debugging is very slow , second  there is no real time simulation (watching RAM and variables content during debugging session when CPU runnig).

I am consider tu buy P&E Multilink Universal. Does someone already have this toolchain (Codewarrior and P&E multilink) and is it better than OSJTAG ?

I've used the USB Multilink Universal with a K60 Tower board and it works fine. The advantage to the Multilink is that its drivers permit an adjustable transfer rate. I have cranked the Multilink's transfer rate up to 500 kbps when debugging on the tower board without problems.

However, be aware that the Multilink does not supply power to the board. You'll need a separate connection and supply to do that. If you get the elevator boards along with the tower board, then you can plug the OSBDM cable that came with the kit into the connector on the elevator board and provide power that way. The Multilink attaches to the K60 board via a ribbon cable onto a BDM debug header, not through a USB connector. Do NOT connect the OSBDM cable to the tower board's connector while using the Multilink. That will not work.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for fast reply.

Is the speed of Multilink is only improvement comparing to OSJTAG ?

Does the Multilink have faster response to user  debug comands (breakpoint, step by step...) ?

How it acts when CPU running, can the memory (and variables) can be watched in this mode or You must stop program execution with breakpoint ?

Hello,

as for the download speed of the Multilink compared to the OSJTAG, see this post:
