Hi all,

I am trying to install Code warrior 8.7 for MPC 555, at the end of installation I got error message saying that

Failed to install the INF file (C:\Windows\inf\windrvr6.inf)

Error updating the driver (hwid:*WINDRVR6) with the INF file: The system cannot find the file specified.

But when browse through system I am able to find the specified file.

I am using windows vista home premium.

Please give me solution.

Thanks in advance.

Hello

On which OS are you attempting to install CodeWarrior (Windows Xp, Windows 7, ...)?

Which version of CodeWarrior for PowerArchitecture are you attempting to install?

I had the same problem.  I'm using CodeWarrior USB TAP on windows 7.

Tried over and over again to install windrvr6.sys.

This is the error I had:

Command line: C:\Tools\CodeWarrior\ccs\drivers\usb\util\wdreg_gui.exe -inf windrvr6.inf -log setup.log install
Trying to create WinDriver fake device
Error: Failed to install the INF file (C:\Tools\CodeWarrior\ccs\drivers\usb\windrvr6.inf)
Error updating the driver (hwid:*WINDRVR6) with the INF file: The system cannot find the file specified.

In ccs, "show wdv" told me "WinDriver is not installed"

I got it working by downloading and installing the latest drivers of a P&E Micro programmer. (DRIVERS10_install.exe)

P&E programmers apparently need the same Jungo WinDriver as CCS needs.

Now in ccs, "show wdv" tells me "WinDriver v10.10 Jungo (c) 1997 - 2009 Build Date: Sep  2 2009 X86 32bit SYS 12:13:52"

plug USB-ML12 into computer. open device manager, under Jungo you will see one entry for the multilink (there are supposed to be 2) in c:\pemicro\drivers edit the windrvr6.inf file find the line below and put a ; at the beginning windrvr6.sys,,,0x22 ; COPYFLG_NOSKIP | COPYFLG_NO_VERSION_DIALOG now looks like: ;windrvr6.sys,,,0x22 ; COPYFLG_NOSKIP | COPYFLG_NO_VERSION_DIALOG save the file. in the device manager, right click the top node (the name of your computer) and select "install legacy hardware" click search for hardware, let the computer search and give up. Then select browse for driver, navigate to C:\pemicro\drivers\windrvr6.inf click ok, the computer will complain that its not a digitally signed driver, click install anyway the installation will complete and in the Jungo section of device manager there will be 2 entries. The USB_ML12 will now work

P&E Hardware Interface Drivers Version 10 - Now supports Windows 7/XP/Vista 32/64 bit as well as Windows 2000/XP 32-bit. Installs P&E drivers to allow applications to communicate with P&E hardware. Please note that not all hardware maybe supported for your OS. This does not include the application level support which comes with the different products.
