Hi
It would be great to settle an internal argument here
Does anyone know what the Internal Flash read/write lifetime is?
i.e. for standard Intel/AMD flash devices, you get 100000 read/writes for a device.
Is this same for MCF52259?
Cheers!
It is clearly marked in the MCF52259 data sheet:
2.4 Flash Memory Characteristics
The flash memory characteristics are shown in Table 9 and Table 10.
Table 10. SGFM Flash Module Life Characteristics
Maximum number of guaranteed program/erase cycles1 before failure P/E 10,000 Cycles
Data retention at average operating temperature of 85°C Retention 10 Years

I vaguely remember an errata item for a Freescale product stating the cycle limit for "large blocks" was something like 100(!), but the small blocks could be rewritten a lot more times. Can anyone remember which part this was?

Tom,
I must be blind - thanks for pointing out my inabilitiy to read!
10K cycles is not sparkling but better than the 1K cycles someone was trying to convince me of...
Thanks again!
