Codewarrior Crash: Unhandled exception, access violation

I'm having a lot of problems running codewarrior. It would crash randomly in various parts of the software.

The commen error I get is "CodeWarrior encountered and unhandled exception 0xc0000005 at address....".

This happens occasionally when I open a project, open a file in a project, open help files/folders from help menu, build/compile.

I've also gotten this "Access violation at address 04D7029B in module 'PE_Plugin.dll'."

This is my first time using CodeWarrior. I've usually used Cosmic. CodeWarrior is great when it works, but the frequency of these crashes makes it very frustrating to use. Anyone know what is going on?

I am using CodeWarrior for 56800 v8.3 on Windows 7 32bit. FYI, I just got another unhandled exception error when trying to find the version in Help > About...

That version of CodeWarrior is not exactly comptaible with Windows 7. Go to the CodeWarrior General board and look for a thread about Win 7 compatibility problems. The thread should be near the top of the thread list. In it you'll find the various work-arounds that can make this version of CodeWarrior behave better with Win 7.

oh thanks. i should've looked there first. lots of info.

do you know when there will be support for windows 7?

I noticed there is a v10 of codewarrior based on eclipse, but no such version for the 56800. Any info on if & when that will happen?

Sorry, I do not have any information on the roadmap for the DSP56800x tools at this time.
