Using "Hardware Diagnostics"

Gentlemen:

I have a CodeWarrior setup with a Freescale P2020 running and can download and execute the sample test program.

The question came up today how to run the hardware diagnostics to check memory in our board. I can open the hardware diagnostics screen, but it errors out when trying to write memory.

The "Memory Display" screen works fine and I can change memory values at known memory locations from that screen, just not from the Hardware Diagnostics screen. I am running the same config file and setting up MMU, DDR, LAWBARS and the like the same, but cannot seem to run Hardware Diagnostics.

Can someone offer a suggestion or two to help move forward.

let me reply to my own post as I have some additional data.

I can use the menu option Debug->EPPC->Fill Memory and fill memory with 8, 16 & 32 bit values for at least the first 1MByte of RAM space. So, I know the Fill Memory is working, but just not the Hardware Diagnostics menu item.
