MC9S08GB60A - RTI

Hello,

I have MC9S08GB60A MCU with 32 khz crystal. I can make RTI running when the mcu is clocked using external crystal (and internal MCUs oscillator). My question is - how to make RTI running when MCU is clocked using internal reference generator (not using the external crystal)? I don't need my MCU to be clocked by any external component, internal clock is sufficient for me. But I want to use RTI (which needs external clock).

Thank you

Martin

Hello Martin,

Unfortunately this is not possible with this device.

In run and wait modes the only source for the RTI clock is external

In Stop 2 the only source is its own special internal clock

In Stop 3 either one can be used.

There are NO other choices.

You have to use the timer module to do this in run mode.

I would love to know why the designers did this to us.

DITTO! Caused me much grief that they did it this way. I know I shoulda checked before I did the design but to think they would put this limitation on the GB60 is beyond me.

And does anyone know where a person could get their hands on a few hundred GB60s? A 40-week lead time is gonna kill me.

Ga!   I hope management doesn't read this - They will make us design it out. We've been having enough problems with freescale parts.

and I thought GT16A's at 26 weeks was a problem!

I have been buying up stock from all over the place.

Can't help you with the GB60's though
