can anyone please suggest me a stepper motor controller IC for automotive application???
I would also like to ask u what would be the ideal specifications... this is for the first time iam given the work to choose a controller IC.. so, it will be of great help of how do i choose such ICs n what to look in for???

Hello, try to check (for example) ST L9935 (http://www.stm.com/stonline/products/literature/ds/5198.pdf). We used these IC's in some automation appz. There are no "ideal" - but features you may need to look for:
- delayed channel switch (reduces peak)
- controlled VOUT slope (minimized EMI)
- shortcut prodection
etc... Depends on requirements.
