Hi,

I am just new for freescale.

When I want to load the file into the JM16 on my own board,

it cant enter into background mode.

and when I just power on, the "reset" pin will have a square wave.

(I havnt load any file into the MCU)

Is it normal??

please help me.

Thanks a lot.

Hi Archer,

Perhaps you are suffering from this problem then.

Are you using CW6.2?

Can you still talk to the daughter board?

Hi, peg

The problem is from CW. after i replace four dll files as the thread you posted,

now i can load the file into external JW16.

Thanks for your help. it's really helpful.

Hi, pgo

My case is that I try to use DEMOJM to program an external JM16.
and I have already moved out the daughter board. and connected the four lines to my board.

but, it doesnt work.

The situation is if I click the "Connect (Reset)" botton, it will appear a message which is "Error :Can not enter background mode" at the first time, after that, it will just appear "USB HCS08/HCS12 MULTILINK detected" In this time, BKGD keeps low, only when I click the "Connect (Reset)" botton, it goes high. and then comes back to low.

Thanks a lot.

Hi,

I have already read it, and follow the steps to try to enter background mode.

but, unfortunately it doesnt work.

the BDM i use is DEMOJM, I connect four pins (Vdd, Gnd, BKGD,and Reset).

and I have tried to put BKGD low and turn on the power, and release BKGD back to high.

but it still cant connect to chip. but at that time, the reset pin will stop sending the square wave, it will

be internal pull high.

by the way, my chip is still blank.

Are there any ideas I can try??

Thanks a lot.

Sincerely

Archer

Dear Archer,

Can I clarify what your hardware set up is?

Are you trying to program an external JM16 chip using the DemoJM board as a BDM module or are you programming the JM16 on the daughter board provided with the board?

The DemoJM includes a cut-down P&E BDM intended to work with the second of the above but it should be possible to program an external chip with the connections you have indicated (make an adapter from the header pins or fit the BDM header).  The daughter board should not be installed.

If the target chip is being powered from the DemoJM board the P&E BDM should be able to reset the target chip into BKGD mode OK.

bye
