We are planning to work on a new project using our custom board based on NXP i.MX.8 processor.
The software development environment will be Yocto (cross compilation with Ubuntu machines).
We consider using GDB to debug the application (executable) running on the target Linux environment.
However, we need a debugger probe to be able to debug the hardware target (checking processor status, reading CPU registers, ...)
According to our understanding, the JLink Ultra+ can be a good choice.
But We need to check these details:
- Is i.MX.8 fully supported by JLink Ultra+?
- Do we need software tools (freeware?) to be able use the JLink Ultra+ for flashing/debugging on Linux?
- How can we use the JLink ULtra+ associated with GDB to debug applications on target?
