We are under considering surround view system with i.MX6 Solo. Please let me clarify supporting number of cameras.

When we connect camera via MIPI-CSI interface, we are using virtual channels feature.

I think each virtual channel binding to IPU-CSIn port. then, i.MX6Solo only have two CSI port.

I suppose i.MX6 Solo is able to capture simulateously up to 2 cameras,

But, i.MX6SDL reference manual says "MIPI CSI supports up to 4 virtual channel".

Can i.MX6 Solo use four virtual channels simulateously?

I found following thread regarding same topics.

The meaning of i.MX6 MIPI-CSI "virtual channel".

If iMX6 Solo is able to connect 4 cameras via virtual channels of MIPI-CSI,

How do I configure the GPR13 register? should I change port mapping by each frames?

Best Regards,

Kazuma Sasaki.

There is only 1 IPU in i.MX6S. It is not able to handle 4 cameras signals.

Even i.MX6Q, it is needed a FPGA in between cameras and i.MX6.

For your reference, this discussed in 4 video capture using MIPI-CSI2 port

So, we have a solution for surround view that using PCIe.

iMX6 TW686x Surround view patch

Or you may consider using i.MX8.
