Hi
I'm Fabio and I'm a beginner about linux environment .
Now I'm involved in some new development and we bought the mcimx6ull_evk for some experiments.
Where can I find some description about the BSP for imx.6 ULL?
I saw the sd card coming with the EVK has a structure like 2 partitions (one for the image and one for the
classic environment) but if I download a new BSP I find only the image and not the directory structure...???
How can I write the new BSP on sd card?
many thaks
Fabio
ps I tried to find these information on the community with serach tab but without any success :-(
+1
I also ran into the same issues as stated above. The demo images stated to boot on the i.MX6 ULL EVK do NOT boot or crash. I wasted time thinking this was a faster way to my goals, then I need to waste more time to build a non-customized kernel/rootfs that should be generally available. This seems like something NXP should fix.
thanks to all
I resolved by a toolchain installation with creation of a new kernel from Yocto project
I tried two old versions of BSP and both starts .... so my procedure to create a bootable SD CARD is correct ...
But both end with failure ... this is the log

Hi Fabio,
Welcome to i.MX, Linux and Yocto world. For additional reference, you could take a look to the following Community document, that helps to understand Yocto for future image buildings:
https://community.nxp.com/docs/DOC-94035
Hope this will be useful for you.
Best regards!

Hi, fabio mario poiatti
Please refer below-mentioned links for i.MX6ULL EVK board specific Documentations and demo images on different version of BSPs .
To setup a build environment for i.MX6ULL EVK, you can follow this link, in which you will find the document named i.MX_Yocto_Project_User's_Guide.pdf which describes how to build an image for an i.MX6ULL EVK board and i.MX_Linux_User's_Guide.pdf document provides the steps to flash images on any boot device like SD Card.
Regards,
Shivani Patel
thanks Shivani Patel
I tried exactly the command you suggested but without any success ..
sudo dd if=fsl-image-validation-imx-imx6ul7d.sdcard of=/dev/mmcblk0 bs=1M && sync
Is it enough to flash a new sd card with only the BSP fsl-image-validation-imx-imx6ul7d.sdcard ?
Or it is necessary to flash something else?
You said "The BSP package L4.14.78_1.0.0_ga_images_MX6UL7D.zip contains common SDCARD image for all i.mx6ul, i.mx6ull, and imx7d boards." ... what does it mean? Is that image not correct for my EVK application?
Thanks
Hi,
many thanks for your response.
I'm going to read the documents you indicated ... in the meantime I tried to generate an sd card for a newer
bsp (in respect of the sd card coming with evk) but linux does not start :-(
the red led remain always on
for creation af the new sd card I followed this list of actions:
1) download a new BSP from the NXP website L4.14.78_1.0.0_ga_images_MX6UL7D.zip
2) extract from .zip the file fsl-image-validation-imx-imx6ul7d.sdcard
3) insert a new sd card in the pc slot with adapter
4) sudo dd if=fsl-image-validation-imx-imx6ul7d.sdcard of=/dev/mmcblk0 bs=1M && sync
5) insert the new written sd card in the EVK
6) switch on the EVK remains with red led on
How is it possible to chose between imx6ul imx6ull imx6ulz or imx7d image?
Please try below command to flash the SDCARD image,
The BSP package L4.14.78_1.0.0_ga_images_MX6UL7D.zip contains common SDCARD image for all i.mx6ul, i.mx6ull, and imx7d boards.
