i.MX8M Mini EVK enable HDMI output

I am having trouble enabling HDMI output on the i.mx8M mini EVK (8MMINILPD4-EVK).

I am using the MIPI DSI to HDMI converter to connect to an HDMI display.

I have tried booting the preinstalled android and the linux demo image without any luck.

I have consulted both this forum and the latest i.MX Linux User Guide (Rev. L4.14.78-1.0.0_ga, 01/2019).

The user guide lists uboot video bootargs for all i.MX8 but the Mini in section 4.4.1.2 and I have tried using the bootargs for the other processors, also without luck.

Please advice.

Hi,

I have a same problem. I received  this week two 8MMINILPD4-EVK kits and both of them are not booting to Android out of the box. According to serial terminal they tried to start Android, but booting fails and board reboots itself after a while. I also downloaded a new Android image (android_p9.0.0_1.0.0-ga_image_8mmevk.tar.gz) and I downloaded it to the board using serial download tool. It behaves a similar way and it didn't boot either. 

There seems to be a problem with this pre-built Android image. 

Maybe someone could help me and others?

In which connector are you placing the MIPI to HDMI converter?

Furthermore, which Linux image are you using? I tested with our demo image for the i.MX8Mmini, and it worked perfectly.

This worked out of the box for me, connect the thick braided MIPI cable between "DSI MIPI" and the adapter and then connect the adapter to the screen with a HDMI cable. I booted from eMMC (Check the jumpers) and connected the USB-UART to watch boot process.

Hi, 

  I am having some issue with imx8m mini evk display MIPI-DSI to HDMI. The output is seen during uboot and then disappears when loading kernel. What is the proper bootargs required in uboot to specify the MIPI-DSI driver for video ?
