Is the software and micro code compatible when upgrading from MPC8560 to MPC8569

We are evaluating upgrading from MPC8560 to MPC8569. Will the the micro code be compatible between the two chips? We are supporting SS7 MTP2 and LAPD on it. Besides BSP (board support packet) changes, will the OS and application software need some change?

Thanks,

Have a great day,

The micro code patches are not compatible between the two chips. However the MPC8569 QUICC engine has MCC which is slightly extended MCC of the MPC8560 CPM. It supports SS7. I recommend look into QUICC Engine Block Reference Manual with Protocol Interworking. See chapter 23.1.2 Comparison with MPC82xx CPM MCC.

You can download this manual using link on the MPC8659 nxp page

Yes the BSP is bounded with particular Linux kernel. So you need use that kernel if you do not want to get additional problems. There is no general answer if application software need for some changes. Just try and test. Some application may require for changing.
