For a Windows host machine,
1. Download and install driver USB UART driver from below link,
   CP210x USB to UART Bridge VCP Drivers
2. Download and install Teraterm if it is not installed. Link, Tera Term - Download
3. Open Teraterm.
4. Select "Serial" option and appropriate COM port. Find below screenshot for the reference,

5. Set the configuration as 115200-8-none-1-stop-bit no-flow-control. Go to Setup->Serial Port… to set serial Baud           Rate. Set Baud Rate 115200 and leave another setting as it is. Find below screenshot for the reference,

6. You have successfully set up the serial console.

For an Ubuntu host machine,

1. Setup a Minicom if it is not already set up. Use below command for set up,
    $ sudo apt-get install minicom
2. Start Minicom with configuration setting using below command,
    $ sudo minicom -s
    This will open a configuration window as below,

3. Select "Serial port setup" and set configurations as per below screenshot,

Where, /dev/ttyS0 is the USB port detected for the gateway debug console. That can be found using "dmesg" command.
4. You have successfully set up the serial console.
