Gateway Registration Failed Through Phone App

When using the app and commissioning the gateway, after beaming the info through bluetooth or NFC, the message "Gateway registration failed. Please try again." So, after reading the MGOOBDSUG.pdf, steps 6 and 7 below did not occur:

6. For the first time log in, it will be required to fill out few details to register the NXP Modular Gateway.

7. An email will be sent to the email address with a verification code that needs to be added into the OTP field (One-Time-Password).

 

There was no user registration and user verification screen when I first used the app, and therefore I did not receive the original email with verification code for the OTP. However, the app still lets me commission the gateway after scanning the QR code and using bluetooth/NFC. 

 

Is this a registration problem? Please help.
