56F807, DSP56F800 Family User’s Manual, Rev. 8, pg. 12-2, figure 12-1. What does RG stand for (abbreviation).

I have searched the Family User's Manual & the DSP56800 Family Manual. There is only one that one reference to RG with no explanation. I imagine that the 'G' is for Gate?

Hard to say what "RG" stands for but the gate looks like the Enable Buffer for when the TE bit is set.

When disabled it is Hi-Z state, when enabled it outputs the Tx Shift Reg.

Hi, all

I agree with Peter, it is a tri-state gate, when the TE bit in SCI control register is set, the shift register logic will output  to TX pin, when TE bit is cleared, the TX pin is high-Z state.
