Which NFC chips are compatible with smartphones?

I'm confused!

NXP produces many different types of contactless microchips such as

  • ICODE
  • MIFARE Classic
  • MIFARE Desfire
  • MIFARE Plus
  • MIFARE Ultralight
  • NTAG

Which of all the above are compatible (can be read) with smartphones?

I know Android devices have been able to read NFC chips for many years which iPhones need a third party app and the IOS11 to read chips.

Please help?

Dear Luciano Devoto

as you know apple  opened their NFC interface, so you can now read tags it does not support peer to peer or writing operations nor card emulation.  the tags you mention here I believe that all are supported by the iphone but lets be clear, that you have IOS 11 does not mean that you can read  tags,  you will need iphone7, 7plus, 8, 8plus or X. this are the devices that are enabled to read tags also you will need an application to read like our tag info app. all the NFC forum type tags are supported from 1 to 5

if you have more questions please let me know.

Have a great day!!

There are many exhaustive,  accurate and comprehensive lists of all the handsets which are available all around the world. Although NFC phones list is mirrored all over the websites but since best paper writing service is a living document  which should check this for the latest information about writing.
