imx6q, fall-back boot mode on errors

Hi, was wondering, is the OTG (serial loader) the only fall-back mode in case of any error booting ? I mean, on a corrupted app/bootloader boot (i.e. U-boot), whatever boot setting is set, does imx6 always fall back to serial loader (OTG) ?

Thanks

angelo

Hi angelo

yes in case of any error, boot ROM falls back to serial downloader as described

for example in sect.8.2.5 Internal Boot mode i.MX6DQ Reference Manual

http://www.nxp.com/docs/en/reference-manual/IMX6DQRM.pdf

"If an error occurs during the internal boot, the boot code jumps to the Serial Downloader"

For some processors there are differencies in behaviour, for example in

SD/MMC manufacture mode, [sect.8.11 SD/MMC manufacture mode i.MX6SDL Reference Manual ]

http://cache.freescale.com/files/32bit/doc/ref_manual/IMX6SDLRM.pdf

"When the internal boot and recover boot (if enabled) failed, the boot goes to the
SD/MMC manufacture mode before the serial download mode."

Note this is description for boot ROM, if processor executes custom bootloader this

may be not applicable.

Best regards
igor
