Pitfalls of upgrading from 3.1 to 6.1?

I have CW 3.1 for programming my 9S12 project. I just bought the DEMOJM evaluation kit to evaluate processors "in the continuum" and 6.1 came with it.

Is there any danger installing 6.1? Could it cause my 3.1 not to work? That would be bad, since I program deliverable product with it.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

Generally different versions of Codewarrior exist on the same PC without any trouble. I have 3 different versions co-existing quite OK.
Freescale support people generally have even more versions at once.

Hello John,

During installation of the new version, make sure that no file extension associations are altered.  Otherwise, a double click on a HCS12 project name may launch the incorrect CW version.

Regards,
Mac

Thank you both very much. Now I can click "Install" without fear.
