Decreased reading distance with VCC powered

Hi

Im using a NT3H1101W0FHKH and when the Tag is passive without any power connected to it, I can read it from further away that if I start powering it.

This can be reproduced using the Demo kit NTAG I2C OM5569/NT312D aswell.

Does anyone know the answer to why the range decreased when the tag is powered ?

Hello,

I tried it on OM5569-NT312D, it works on the contrary. When it is being powered only by the NFC field, the reading distance is shorter than when it is being powered by another source (e.g. LPC-Link2).

If you are working on a custom board design implementing the NT3H1101W0FHKH, please make sure that its voltage level is stable, otherwise, the reading distance will be better when it is being powered by the NFC field.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Ivan.

That sounds really weird as we are able to reprodcuce it with multiple non

custom boards. What's really odd about your findings though is that the

range differs at all as powering it should only affect the I2C interface.

Do you know what could cause the difference while powering ? Since the tag

is only read, the readers field strength is in my opinion the only thing

that should affect the range
