We have a board with the P1022 processor and we had a Cypress (formerly spansion) chip S29GL01GP11TFIR1 for the flash. But that has been obsoleted now and we had to replace it with S29GL01GT10TF1010 chip.

When we trying put the u-boot.bin file using codewarrior we get the following error.

Error: Program with Verify failed. Flash driver reports the following error(s): Sector Protection Error
Error: Program with Verify failed. Flash driver reports the following error(s): Sector Protection Error

One thing we do see is that the only device listed under "Add Device" is S29GL01GP (We also tried the S29GL01GP-Simics, but for our case 64Mx16X2 it is the same in both the xml files which is amd16x2.elf) , we do not see a S29GL01GT.

Is there an elf file for this chip ?

The erase, dump (read operation) all seems to work fine and goes thru sucessfully.

I have also attached the Diagnose for both the old flash(S29GL01GP11TFIR1) and the new flash(S29GL01GT10TF1010) and attached it.

Please let me know if you need any more information.

Thank you

Ram Krishnan

NXP was very helpful in getting this fixed. The solution was a new elf file for the new chip set. The new one seems to work on the older one too.
