iMX6Quad Industrial 996MHz Operation

Hi

in AN4724 the industrial variant of the iMX6Q is only qualified for 792MHz and giving respective POHs.

If the application needs to run at 996 MHz is there then any advantage of choosing the industrial variant

compare to lets say extended-commercial?

Or does it even harm to run the industrial variant on 996 MHz?

And in terms of POHs would the industrial variant then at least have the POHs of the extended-commercial as a lower bound?

Thanks for any answer!

Best

Rolf

Hello Rolf,

The industrial variant of the i.MX6Q is characterized for 792 only (800Mhz part number with a 24Mhz crystal can achieve a maximum of 792Mhz) since Industrial qualified Part Numbers are available only  in 800Mhz variants.

The Extended-Commercial variant is available in 1Ghz and 1.2Ghz variants, which is why the 996Mhz (maximum achievable frequency of the 1Ghz part number with a 24Mhz crystal) is characterized.

You can see the part number nomenclature on figure 1 of the i.MX6 Industrial datasheet (link below).

I hope this clarifies your concerns. Please let me know if there’s anything else I can do for you.
