LS1021A TSN and IEEE 1588

Hi all,

We would like to explore the TSN capabilities using the NXP LS1021A TSN solution. However, we've read in the user guide that the current recommended distribution (OpenIL) does not provide support for IEEE 1588 in LS1021A TSN Ethernet interfaces.

My question is if it is a hardware limitation or if it is a software problem that could be fixed in a future OpenIL release.

Kind regards!

Hello Hector,

I am sorry for the delayed response.

The LS1021ATSN board contains an LS1021A SoC (with eTSEC Ethernet interfaces) and a SJA1105T TSN L2 switch.

Today the LS1021A supports Ordinary Clock and Boundary Clock modes, and OpenIL distribution comes with the ptp4l daemon to enable this.

The SJA1105T will support Transparent Clock mode and/or Time-Aware Bridge mode (gPTP) in one of the upcoming OpenIL releases.

For quicker response time you can open inquiries either in the OpenIL Github issue tracker: https://github.com/openil  or on the OpenIL mailing lists: http://www.openil.org/mailing.html
