Hi,

When using ENET, there is a description in i.MX 6DQ data sheet below. Is it possible to reduce clock accuracy 50ppm to 100ppm when it use MII mode instead of RMII mode?

4.11.5.2 RMII Mode Timing
In RMII mode, ENET_CLK is used as the REF_CLK, which is a 50 MHz ± 50 ppm continuous reference clock.

Best Regards,

Sugiyama

Hello Toshihisa Sugiyama,

Clock accuracy is fixed as it depends on the hardware of the module. Of course the accuracy would also depend on using adequate crystals or clocks as inputs to the processor.

May I ask why is it that you are looking for a reduced accuracy? In general terms a better accuracy clock should not have any negative impact on your design, but I may be overlooking a potential scenario.

Hi, gusarambula

Customer plan to use ENET as only 10/100M Base, so they thought X'tal  accuracy may be reduced and their board seems oscillator accuracy is 100ppm actually. Then, they asked if i.MX ENET module could allow that lower accuracy.
