MFRC522 is a highly integrated reader/writer IC for contactless communication at 13.56 MHz. The MFRC522 reader supports ISO/IEC 14443 A/MIFARE® and NTAG®. This part is not recommended for new design ins. For new designs we recommend MFRC630.

So please select MFRC630 for new design!
MFRC522's package is the same as that of MFRC523, MFRC522 can be replaced with MFRC523.
