Hi all

I'm researching the device power consumption especially i.MX6ULL and i.MX7.

I thought that i.MX6ULL is greater than i.MX7 in the point of power consumption.

Because compared to i.MX7, i.MX6ULL has removed its peripherals.

However, according to the datasheet, my understanding is not correct.

For that reason, I want to know the reason why power consumption of i.MX6ULL is higher than that of i.MX7.

Could someone answer the following questions ?

Q1. Regarding to the Low Power IDLE

According to the table 15 of IMX6ULLIEC, the total power consumption of i.MX6ULL is  5.48 mW.

On the other hand, i.MX7 is  2.45 mW.

I think this difference comes from  definition of  low power mode.

According to the IMX7SRM and IMX6ULLRM, some definitions are different.

For instance, the state of ARM Core in i.MX6ULL is "Power Down" but i.MX7 is "OFF".

"I think Power Down" isn't same as "OFF".

As a result, those difference make the difference of power consumption.

Am I correct ?

Q2. Regarding to the SYSTEM IDLE

According to the table 15 of IMX6ULLIEC, the total power consumption of i.MX6ULL is  41.15 mW.

On the other hand, i.MX7 is 28.53mW.

I compared the tables of low power mode definitions same as Q1.

However, there are almost same as i.MX6ULL and i.MX7.

I can't understand the difference of power consumption comes from.

Could you explain where the difference comes from ?

Hello,

To be completely accurate - You are right - the power modes of the i.MX6ULL

and i.MX7 are not the same, since the devices are not the same too. They

contains similar internal modules (IP), but again - not the same.

Have a great day,
Yuri
