You can download the BSP documentation from here:
i.MX 6 / i.MX 7 Series Software and Development Tool|NXP
For example :
Linux 4.1.15_2.0.0 BSP & Multimedia Codecs Documentation
Firstly, I would suggest you to follow the steps in "i.MX_Yocto_Project_User's_Guide.pdf" to install and compile the BSP. That will help you to understand Yocto and BSP more.
Secondly, if you have i.MX6 SabreSD board or other third party i.MX6 boards, you will learn it more faster. You can follow the steps in "i.MX_Linux_User's_Guide.pdf". You will know how to program the images by using Mfgtool . After you program the images to the board, you can try the features (Wifi, audio, video,etc.) on the board.
i.MX_BSP_Porting_Guide.pdf is useful when you porting different devices on your own design board to BSP.
i.MX_Linux_Reference_Manual.pdf is the details manual for drivers in Linux.
