Driving LPC2131 VDD above the Absolute Maximum Rating

Hi,

We have been using the LPC2131 in our design for years and driving it (VDD) at 3.3V. We just realized that our board voltage monitoring circuit would not triggered an error until the voltage goes above 3.9V for VDD.

As of safety concern, what would happen to the device if it would be feed at 3.9V instead of 3.3V ?

Would it catch into fire or it would only reduce its MTBF and affect its behavior/performance ?

Thanks in advance !

Q. Would it catch into fire or it would only reduce its MTBF?

A. There is no definite answer to this question. Both cases are possible.

Have a great day,
Artur
