Does PN532 support NDEF?

Hi,

I have a question regarding PN532.

A few years ago, we have developed an NFC device using PN532.

One of our customer is requesting us to support NDEF peer to peer communication.

Although the data sheet says that PN532 supports ISO/IEC 18092, we don't find a word "NDEF" in the document.

At the moment, we are not familiar with NDEF and I have no idea whether PN532 supports NDEF.

I'd appreciate it if you teach us whether PN532 supports NDEF.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,

Tetsuo.

Hello Tetsuo:

I am sorry for no replies so far.

NDEF is a way of encapsulating data to exchange information between NFC devices, or between an NFC device and a tag. NDEF specification is part of the application layer in NFC Forum specifications.

As NDEF is in the application layer and PN532 supports the lower layers of Peer-to-Peer communication, then of course NDEF formatting is supported if implemented in the host MCU firmware.

Note that for an NFC Forum compliant Peer-to-Peer implementation, the LLCP and SNEP layers also have to be implemented as part of the host MCU firmware.

Regards!

Hi Jorge-san,

Thank you for the advice.

We are thinking same way and are requesting the development member to implement the features in the application layer.
We have confirmed our approach with your advice!

Thanks,

Tetsuo Maeda
