PMIC READY of IMX6UL

Hi,

We are designing a PCB with IMX6UL (MCIMX6G2CVM05AA) and PF3001 (MC32PF3001A7EP) PMIC. On muxing the pins of processor, there is a function ,"PMIC_READY"  under Clock Control Module (muxed to either JTAG_MOD or GPIO1_IO8) of processor.

Please find the below clarifications required for the signal.

Q1: Can you please explain the purpose/logic of the PMIC_READY signal.

Q2: Is PMIC_READY  a control  /indicator input signal to processor (from PMIC).

Q3: Can it be used for power on-off control logic with PMIC...?

Not much details are available on the processor datasheet and reference manual, except for the register settings and mux configuration.

Please find the below  image (mux information) as available on Pg 178 of IMX6ULRM,for your reference.

Thanks,

Uma

Hi Igor,

  Thanks for your response.

We checked the iMX53 reference manual and corresponding IMX6UL reference manual, for the signal purpose.

As highligthed in the image below (Pg 636 on IMX6ULRM), PMIC_READY is a indicator signal from PMIC to processor,on exit from STOP mode.

But the PMIC(PF3001/PF3000) does not have a 'PMIC_READY' output signal.

 As specified in

STANDBY PIN FOR PF3001

PF3001 cannot be put into standby .But PF3000 can be put into standby, through its input pin.

Q1: Can you please confirm how the PMIC responds/acknowledges the processor, that it is ready.

Any  recommended/reference design of processor's 'PMIC_STBY_REQ' and 'PMIC_READY' signals for power control, will be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Uma

Hi Uma

description of this signal can be found in documentation for older

i.MX parts, like sect.18.2.6.3.3 PMIC Signal Description i.MX53 Reference Manual
http://www.freescale.com/files/32bit/doc/ref_manual/iMX53RM.pdf

ARM: imx6: add missing BM_CLPCR_BYPASS_PMIC_READY setting for imx6sx - Patchwork

It is used for dvfs with external pmic, seems it is not used in i.MX6UL designs.

Best regards
igor
