Hi,

I was planning on using one of the Serdes of the T1040 chip as 1G to the external world using a Phy. What setting must I put in the phy for it to work properly. Serdes or SGMII. Also is there anything I need to do configure in the chip T1040 ?

Could you elaborate on the Autonegotiation setting too.

Regards

Gokul.

The question is specific to PHY and, therefore, depends on PHY model and vendor.

From the processor side, there is no difference between "Serdes" and "SGMII" in regards to Ethernet PHY connection - if Ethernet PHY is connected to this particular Serdes lane, than this lane is configured to "SGMII" mode.

Please look T1040 Reference Manual, Table 31-1 "Supported SerDes Options" for more details.
